Mason Dixon Logos History

The Mason-Dixon Conference for the Deaf, also known as the Mason-Dixon Tournament, is a long-standing athletic event for schools for the deaf in the southeastern United States. Established in 1964, this conference involves various sports such as basketball, volleyball, football, and track and field, providing an opportunity for deaf students to compete in a supportive environment.

The tournament brings together 11 schools from Alabama, Eastern North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Each year, a different school hosts the event, rotating the responsibility among the participating schools.

The conference has a rich history of promoting sportsmanship and athletic excellence among deaf students, with the basketball tournament being one of its most prominent events. Historical champions include schools from Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Florida, showcasing a competitive spirit and regional rivalry over the decades.
